Typical Government Hypocrisy

Ok, so we can't gamble on anything sports-related. Unless it's horse racing or we live in Nevada. But at least we can "gamble" on the lottery, aka "The Poor Tax." Oh, and don't worry, gambling billions of dollars on the price of natural gas is perfectly fine as well.

  1. Rich,

Great point about "white collar" gambling. If you have time to read a long work of fiction, I recomend Frank Norris's novel "The Pit". The late 19th century book is part of a fiction trilogy exploring how speculation in grain futures trading (hence title refering to the commodities pit at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange) affects everyone from farmers to consumers. Good stuff if you don't mind reading about fops and ragamuffins.
